if you've realized that someone you love doesn't return your feelings for a variety of reasons, is it worth it to address those reasons? or is it really just better to move on?

You will likely grow to regret it if you don't address those reasons, so, yes, it is worth it. Are you able to discuss it with the person or is this something you must contemplate on your own?

not at all, unfortunately. i feel like it would be somewhat difficult to broach the subject even if she were here, but she hasn't been here in years.

That's one of the worst things about our situation in this world: if there is unfinished business when someone suddenly leaves, there is no guarantee it will ever be resolved.

Since you are stuck in the position of contemplating it on your own, I suggest taking a set amount of dedicated time to considering the reasons the relationship couldn't be, and, once you have done so, put the feelings associated with it to rest as best you can.

and there's no guarantee she'd remember it, either. ...of course, there were problems even before either of us got here, from what i've gathered, but i can't exactly do anything about that, either.

nevertheless... really, that is the only thing i can do at this point, i suppose.
