I think that your question of whether or not a relationship beyond friendship is permissible is not yet something that you should consider. What you should concentrate on is finding where you and your master stand as people. What I mean by this is, when you think about him without the title of master, what do you feel? Does anything change? Are you able to think of him as something other than your master? He is your most important person, but does that have a different definition outside of what you and he have always been to each other?
I myself have served many bosses. Some of them were just people I served. Others I hated. Some I was glad to serve. Only a select few I truly grew to love, and only some I can say for sure loved me back. But it's very important that a relationship beyond friendship between those who serve and those who are served be one that, in private, can be equal. This might be too soon to ask, but do you think that the two of you could become equals?
