[A very simple premise with ulterior motives. France will, however, answer all the questions seriously because love, in his opinion, should always be taken seriously no matter how big or how small.]

That is a question that has baffled people perhaps moreso than why we exist in the first place. Therefore, what follows is my personal opinion.

Love is both the culmination of emotional experience and the conscious expression of desires. Love is not something that people elect to feel or experience, to receive or give. Love is part of existing on an instinctive and cognitive level, and people love because they exist. It's a type of duality that both feeds itself and is its own feedback.

Sometimes being able to love is a curse.

Love is a gift and a curse, much like existence can be.

I've tried.

It's an good question to contemplate.

I was expecting some of that, but I'm not at all disappointed with your questions! "Love is a many splendored thing" as the expression goes.

I'm bad at thinking about this sort of thing, to be honest.

But I have another question if you don't mind.

What kind of person would continue to love another after a betrayal? Isn't it foolish to forgive when there's no hope of salvaging the situation?

You approaching the question from the wrong angle. It's not what kind of person but rather why do people continue to love others after a betrayal? There is no particular type of person for whom love transcends betrayal. Sometimes, the strength of love is greater than anything the betrayer could ever do. It is not the person but the nature of the love itself.

Is it foolish to forgive? Often, yes, and usually incredibly so. But the strength of a person's love will often overrule or continue in spite of logic and good sense.

If I could make it go away, I would.

I'd rather be alone than thrown away again.

I can understand that sentiment. The hardest thing to do when you've been badly hurt is to let anyone back in again. But it is also part of the healing process. I wouldn't suggest that you seek love, but I do suggest that you not close yourself off. Take you own time and space. Be good to yourself first and foremost. Be selfish in protecting yourself. And, if anyone wants you, let them pursue you and only reciprocate if you can see all of them. It will allow you control and safety in the situation.

Then do so with every chance you get. It will not change the past, but there can be empowerment of the self in the now.
