[Post 011] Video/Action in Violet City

[The 'Gear comes on to catch the final moments of a light brown and white egg's existence before the minutely-cracked shell suddenly explodes the glittery light of a hatching -]

[France's squeal is extremely loud and he appears on the screen, obviously handing off the 'Gear to one of his pokemon; by the off-the-ground angle, it's probably either Kai or Drifblim. France is all ready with a towel, but there's no residue like traditional egg hatchings, so he just scoops up the tiny Eevee, cooing at a pitch that can probably only be heard by very young children, bats, and small dogs. The Eevee seems to automatically adore France, yipping and barking happily in response to his voice.]

[It takes a minute or five, but France eventually remembers that the 'Gear is on. France turns back to it, showing off his newest pokemon quite proudly.]

I've decided to name her Thérèse. She and Marianne--yes, Marianne, you can come over here now.

[And, instead of the Vulpix most people are probably used to seeing either following France faithfully or attacking wild pokemon that dare to come within her jumping range, a sleek and regal-looking Ninetales makes her way onto the screen to examine this... new addition. She seems rather torn on whether or not Thérèse is a good thing or not. France, as usual, is totally oblivious, and the feed closes off with Thérèse and Marianne staring at each other intently.]

Is that an Eevee, France?

[Miles remembers seeing Eevees in the game his friends played back home -- and he never admitted back then but he adored those things to death and so France gets Miles staring at Thérèse with a look of *A*

.....course, you'll have to excuse the kid's terrible appearance as he looks quite.... sick, with a face flushed with fever and a bruise on his head and his hands in wrappings and.... yeah. France, just. yeah.]

[France lifts the little Eevee up close to the camera so that Miles can have a better view of the adorable pokemon.]

Yes, she's an Eevee!

[He peers close, unintentionally crowding the screen with an Eevee face and a France face, and frowns, concerned.]

Are you sick?

She looks great. [He looks pretty fascinated by the adorable kit, and oh man oh man he really loves Eevees fdjfh -- and at France's question he just looks sheepish.]

I-- yes, I am... Some things happened..

[France examines Miles through the 'Gear as best he can.]

Are you resting enough and staying hydrated? Have you been eating enough fruits and vegetables?

.....I've somewhat been quarantined into my room, so I've been resting plenty. My roommate has given me some soup, as well.

[Not that it was easy to eat because his hands couldn't hold anything hot.]

[France's eyes widen.]

Quarantined? Is this an official edict? What kind of soup? Was it with vegetables?

It had a lot of tomatoes in it...

I got sick of the snow, so my roommate says I'm not allowed outside until my fever goes down.

[France gives Miles a stern look. Whether or not it's effective is a toss-up.]

You definitely should rest if you have a fever.

[Thérèse yawns and shifts next to France, eyes drooping.]

See? Thérèse agrees!

I've been resting all day. [He looks at Thérèse with a small smile.]

....I just wanted to say hello, is all.

Rest and recuperation go hand in hand. A short, slow walk at the most if you really must have activity.

[Thérèse lets out a soft Vee..., obviously half-asleep already. France smiles slightly.]

I'm glad that you did; Big Brother is always happy to hear from his Little Brother.

I'll keep that in mind. For now, I've been playing with Remus.. [And a baby Plusle pokes his head into the screen, holding a small rubber ball in his hands. Rem waves politely, climbs onto his trainer's lap, and lightly rolls the ball into Miles' hand.]

Will you be in Violet for long, France?

[France's eyes widen at the Plusle and he coos happily.]

So adorable! So, so cute!

[He blinks and then shakes his head, still staring at the Plusle]

Not much longer. I plan to be moving on by the end of the week or early next week at the latest.

[Remus, hearing the exclamation, looks up again and smiles before turning back to Miles, who rolls the ball back to him. Rem jumps on said ball-- then rolls out of the screen with a gleeful cry of "Plaaah!"

And Miles looks rather delighted by the news.]

Will you be headed for Goldenrod, then? O-or... will you be heading to the cave, and moving on to Azalea?

[France sucks in his breath. SO. CUTE. DO. WANT.]

[It takes him a second to respond.]

I'm going to be heading straight to Goldenrod. It shouldn't take me too long to get there, I don't think...

[Wait till you see Remus with his brother Romulus. Double trouble.]

--- Do you have the badge from the Goldenrod Gym, then? I heard that if you do, you can take the shortcut here..

[But oh so cute while taking over the world!]

[France's face falls.]

...Wait. You have to have the badge?

.....Er.

Yes, I heard that you do..

[France deflates.]

Seriously? What about going through the cave and then the forest? Do you need badges for that?

N-no..! I don't think so..

But that would take about a two week's worth of travel...

Couldn't I just... have David spray water at the weird tree? Is there something special about the water in the can?

I'm not sure.. I haven't really looked into it.

[France squints thoughtfully.]

Well, I suppose it couldn't hurt to give it a try. After all, one learns best through experience.

[Pooey-- would be something along Miles' thoughts if he even used such a vocabulary. He is a bit put out that he can't see France (and Merlin, he hopes) earlier -- but at least they're coming!]

Is there anybody in Goldenrod now that you know, who can meet up with you at the tree and let you through?

[France frowns thoughtfully.]

I do know a few people, but I'm not sure if they have the badge...
