[Post 025] Video/Action for Goldenrod City

[France is nowhere to be seen on screen. In fact, he might not even be in the vicinity of this transmission. No, instead, the network has the very special treat of one newly evolved Politoed, gazing in a glazed manner at the screen, and, near by, the remains of what looks like a Department Store shopping bag. In the background, you can see the room is only lit by the flame of a Charmander's tail, shadows cast about to outline a very smug Ninetales leering at the scene, red eyes glinting in the dim lighting.]

Politoed...

[David moves closer to the screen, the very coiled curl on his head bobbing up and down.]

Politoed...

[And closer still, eyes luminous.]

Politoed...

[Closer, until all you can see are those dilated eyes and that bouncing curl...]

Politoed...

[France frowns, confused.]

What's what? Are you hallucinating?

[identity profile] serpensrex.livejournal.com 2011-05-13 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
I am not hallucinating! There was a strange creature staring at me!

[Maybe he should be more specific.]

And it wasn't your normal strange staring Pokemon!

[France's frown turns into a scowl.]

You mean David? He just evolved. And he doesn't stare. He observes.

[He shifts the screen to the Politoed, who is sitting in a large basin of water. Slowly, David's head turns until he's staring at the screen. Those large eyes become even wider. He seems pleased to see you, Cobra Commander.]

Politoed...

How stupid do you think I am? That is not the sssssame creature! And that is staring! I don't ssssee how anyone could call it anything else!

[France rolls his eyes openly.]

David evolved. Of course he doesn't look the same. And observing can often be mistaken for staring: it involves focusing with your eyes as well as other senses.

I know how Pokemon evolution works! I also know that evolved creatures look like what they were before! Arbok looks like Ekans! Machoke looks like Machop! Golbat looks like Zubat! If you're trying to deceive me it won't work!

And I suppose you're going to tell me all the other times your other creature stared at me, it was observing too!

[France shakes his head.]

It doesn't always go by looks. How do you explain Magikarp evolving into Gyarados? Besides David was a Poliwag before, which is a tadpole pokemon; he evolved into Poliwhirl, also a tadpole pokemon, briefly before becoming a Politoed, which is a frog pokemon.

It's the same as how frogs grow on Earth.

[identity profile] serpensrex.livejournal.com 2011-05-17 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, how was I supposed to know that ssssome of them actually do work like their counterparts on Earth? The Pokemon I've seen certainly don't!

[identity profile] of-france.livejournal.com 2011-05-19 08:18 am (UTC)(link)
[Sneer.]

Then you've just seen an abnormal amount of very strange pokemon.

[identity profile] serpensrex.livejournal.com 2011-05-19 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
For once, I agree!

[Grumbling.]

Ssso, does your frog do anything interesting or just observe?

[France looks momentarily disconcerted before he covers it up by nodding arrogantly.]

David engages in swimming on a daily basis, enjoys hopping in his new form, and is particularly vocal about what he wants for dinner. He also likes to ride in baskets and bags when he isn't being an impressive athlete.

[France's left eye visibly twitches.]

It's not boring. He's a gentleman.

[identity profile] of-france.livejournal.com 2011-05-23 08:56 am (UTC)(link)
Well, obviously for a person like you, it would seem boring! Even if you tried to act like a gentleman, you would simply make a fool of yourself as you fail publicly and spectacularly like you do at everything else!

[identity profile] serpensrex.livejournal.com 2011-05-24 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
First, I don't fail! Second, I have no reason to act like a gentleman. And third...

[The Commander pauses.]

It's ssssstill boring!

[And now he laughs again.]

[France glares shortly before his face morphs into a sneer.]

I suppose for a clown such as yourself gentlemanly behavior would seem utterly boring to your circus act.

[identity profile] serpensrex.livejournal.com 2011-05-26 07:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I am no clown! I am Cobra Commander, the leader of Cobra and the future ruler of the world!

[identity profile] of-france.livejournal.com 2011-06-01 11:55 am (UTC)(link)
[Shrug.]

Most rulers of anything are clowns by default anyways.

[identity profile] serpensrex.livejournal.com 2011-06-02 05:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I am not most rulers, ssssso I'm not a clown!

[identity profile] of-france.livejournal.com 2011-06-03 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, but the only good rulers are the clowns. The rest have no stage presence! No flair!
