What do you do if the person you love thinks you're a much better person than you actually are? If it's because you haven't told them everything about yourself.

People don't love because they know everything about the other. People love those they do for who they currently are. It's a question of do you want the person you love to know all of you? Is that part of yourself you haven't shared something you accept yourself?

Part of loving someone is you love their faults as much as you acknowledge them as faults. You said earlier that this part of yourself is all you once were. What are you now? Why do you think the person you love loves you now?

They like how I act and look and how we have fun together and there's more than that, they've told me but I don't know how to say it all. They think I'm wonderful but I'm not and I don't understand it. They're the one who's wonderful.

I don't know what I am anymore, not really. But I want to be someone who's worth them loving me.

This person that you have become and are becoming: this is the person that they love. No one is a stagnant being; we all evolve and change depending on our motivations and desires. You're doing something amazing: you're trying to be someone better than the person who did terrible things. You're doing it for them, and I'm certain this isn't lost on the person you love. It takes phenomenal effort to change ourselves even a little bit, and I wouldn't be surprised if seeing this in you is part of why the person you love thinks you're wonderful.

Even if the person you used to be is someone you don't think they could love, that isn't who you are anymore. You're something else now, and they'll understand that even if they were to find out what you were before. They will not stop loving you.

I would suggest taking the person you love somewhere comfortable and private and telling them the truth. Tell them the truth in the plainest of terms. Tell them you are telling them the truth because you love them and you want them to know. They will respect you for this honesty, and respect and honesty goes a long way to facilitating understanding.
