I had... a very strange dream...

The calendar says that three days have gone by. My left leg buckled when I tried to get up today, and my head feels like I've been hit with a sledgehammer.

Have I been ill?

When I woke, I... I thought...

I thought I could smell lilies...

[The 'Gear comes on to show Marianne's fuzzy red face. She looks worried, at least from the downturn of her dark eyes, before picking up the 'Gear. She brings it to an angle that captures France, who is lying in his bed in the Violet City Pokemon Center, staring listlessly at the ceiling. This is all the 'Gear picks up for a good few minutes before France turns his head slowly to the side, gazing with the same apathetic expression at Marianne and the 'Gear.]

Marianne...

[France sighs and sits up, a hand going briefly to the left side of his head and eyes fluttering as if the movement has made him dizzy. He reaches out and beckons Marianne over. The camera briefly catches France's two adopted Drifblims, Kai and Drifblim, and David hovering around the foot of the bed before it's switched off.]

This world seems to have an unstable concept of time, so I doubt they see it the same way we do.

This world seems to be unstable. Period. Last month proved it.

...Perhaps a fissure will one day open up and we will be swallowed, sucked into the bowls of Hell.

Or we will wake up at home and wonder where that strange dream came from. Just like today.

[France shivers, his hands clenching and unclenching.]

An illusion of a blind man, trapped, unable to see even when dragged into the light...

You know, if we really are being watched and experimented on, you might be giving them ideas right now.

[ABSOLUTE HORROR.]

Oh. Shit.

Perhaps they will want to watch our reactions when money starts falling from the sky?

[France stops abruptly in his spazzing to stare at Cecil with wide eyes.]

Do you think money would fall from the sky?

Not today, apparently. They might be keeping it for a special occasion.

[France absentmindedly twirls a lock of hair around a finger.]

But it would probably be like leprechaun gold and disappear after a few hours...

Or it would be in currencies from our homes and completely useless.

That, too.

[France sighs, pouting.]

The Devil is so mean! We don't deserve to be treated like such... such animals!

At least they don't make us deal with politics. [Cecil, official finder of silver linings.]

[France nods, agreeing wholeheartedly.]

Maybe even the Devil finds such dealings below him.

Dealing with Baronian nobles would bore anyone, Devil or not. Snd I have no illusions about the politicians in other worlds.

[France screws up his face and waves his arms about jerkily, whilst drooling slightly.]

[Cecil takes on an exageratedly stupid tone of voice.]

"Who cares about hungry orphans? We'll lose money! We'll only be able to buy our wives four diamond rings instead of five!"

[He returns to his normal voice.]

And I'll be stuck dealing with them for decades.

[France juts his upper jaw over his lower, giving the impression of a severe overbite and speaking in a nasally tone.]

I'm a politican, so I'm such a special snowflake! Huck-yuk-yuk-yuk.

[He bursts out laughing, face returning to normal.]

What I wouldn't do to punt some of them! Either that or slip laxatives into their morning coffee.

I'd knock a few of their heads myself, but I'd rather not risk a possible assassination attempt. Baron has had more than enough instability in the last few decades. No need to add to it.

I can understand those sentiments.

[Stability is a very hard thing to achieve and maintain let alone even hope logically for.]

Being forced to deal with that aspect of the world at a young age is a terrible thing. I would spare my son from it as long as possible.

[France nods, offering Cecil a sympathetic smile.]

I can't agree more, and I wish you the best of luck. I wish I could keep Canada out of things, but, as Nations, it's integral what we are aware... Still, it is important to be a child, too.

I'm certain they'll both turn out fine. Young men are resilient; you think an obstacle will stop them, and they find a way to jump over it.

[France grins and winks.]
