[Post 013] Accidental Video/Action in Goldenrod City

[The video opens up to the glaring, narrowed eyes of Marianne the Demon Fox Ninetales. She makes a snuffling sound of displeasure at the screen before getting up, walking around the 'Gear and picking it up to reveal a very, very large pile of snow not far from the beach of Goldenrod City. You can see a bike on its side with one wheel still spinning to the side of the screen briefly before the 'Gear swings around to - ]

AAAAAAAaaaaAAAAA -

[- a wailing pile of snow?]

[Oh, wait, there are France's legs, sticking out from the left end from the snow pile. Well, there's a sight you don't see everyday. The legs flail about for a bit, kicking at the air uselessly, before, with a particularly loud wail, France's head pops out of the top of the snow. His arms appear next, flailing about like his legs, and then he tumbles out of the icy prison, still sobbing and looking generally pretty traumatized.]

['Gear mets the ground and you see Marianne's underside and tails before her foot lands on the 'Gear, cutting the feed off.]

[France grimaces.]

It depends on how I was hurt and how badly, but, yes, Nation and state reflect each other. Sometimes it's difficult to gauge how much or how little.

The only way to hurt our nations is to directly hurt the countries. War and famine and disaster...

[France nods solemnly.]

It is essentially the same for me. War and such reflects on my body. It's rare I'm hurt enough for it to show the other way around.

It seems very dangerous. I don't think I would want to be a nation, in your world.

No one chooses to be one of us. We just -

[He makes a vague gesture.]

- Are. No one really knows why or how.

Ah... [he looks a little bit baffled, but nods slightly.] I see.

Do you have to worry about mortality?

Not exactly.

[France chews his bottom lip.]

We don't stay dead unless our countries are wiped out culturally, politically, and socioeconomically.

[He pauses, mulling it over.]

It's hard to explain.

I understand. You've been around since France came into being, then?

[France nods.]

I've always assumed so.

[He sighs and looks off to the side.]

Things aren't always very clear in the very beginning. It's really hard to say exactly when one becomes aware of nationhood or if one can exist with or without it. I only know how it ends.

I admire you, for being able to withstand that burden. I don't think I would be able to.

[France gives Subaru a curious look.]

It's not a burden. It's simply who I always have been. It's actually strange to...

[He waves a hand vaguely.]

Just be here.

It would be a burden to most people, I think.

[France shrugs.]

Maybe, if a person has known something else before nationhood; I guess they would get to be nostalgic. I don't know any examples of that, though.

Mm. [he pauses, and then--] I suppose you do now.

[France blinks, tilting his head slightly to the side as he contemplates that.]

Not really. More the other way around. I find a lack of land and people lacking.

Mm... I suppose I can understand that.
