[Post 028] Video/Action for Goldenrod City (Backdated to 5/31)
[In the aftermath of the past weekend, France has apparently decided he needs to spend quality time with his pokemon. The video comes on to a good lot of them huddled on France's bed, bunched up around him as he starts the video. How he came to this conclusion is a mystery in and of itself. Well, let's hear about the reasoning from the horse's mouth -]

[Or not. It appears that, due to spending 3 full days running around exposed to the elements by means of being stark naked, has taken a toll on this Nation-once-more-turned-human. The fit tapers off and he clears his throat.]
How do you treat a cold with cough, fever, and congestion here?
[He pauses for a long time before continuing in a very quiet voice.]
And can someone explain to me why I woke up naked in the next to the Radio Tower with no memory of the past three days?

[...y'know, normal crazy people get a room-mate that think they're Napoleon but this guy really takes the cake. He's been here too long to really question it though and so he just continues like this is the most normal thing in the world. ]
Really? How so?
[Voice]
[France licks his lips. Seems this one took it rather well.]
Worst cold I had recently was during the Great Depression. High-grade fever accompanied by chills and pretty much the worst on-going headache ever known. Then again, these things do come in cycles, but I wasn't aware it would effect me here. And we just had a recession, so I thought it might have passed.
[Voice]
That was one financial flu alright. I was too young to really experience more than the tail-end of it but that sort of thing stays in your memory no matter how small you are.
[Pause. As a doctor he should really investigate this further, shouldn't he?]
So... how does this work, exactly? I've never really talked to a nation before - at least not one that talked back.
[Voice]
[France nods understandingly at the first part before answering the second.]
When the economy goes into recession, so does our immune systems. If we catch a cold normally, we usually don't even notice, but if we catch one during a recession or a depression, then we definitely notice because we don't get better. This used to be a more localized coughcoughHACKcough phenomeon, but it's become a semi-global thing since industrialization.

What brought you into the medical profession?

[France pauses for a moment, considering before his curiosity wins out.]
When exactly are from on Earth? When I left, it was late 2010, but I've noticed people come from a lot of different times.
[Voice]
[Yes, this he's jarred by.]
It was 1953 last time I checked the calendar.
[Voice]
China is from the same time as I am, but England came here not too long ago from the beginning of the Second World War. South Italy--we usually refer to him as Romano--, he's from the late 1500's.
Are you currently involved in Korea?
[Voice]
I was - the war ended shortly before I got here but for the duration of it I was stationed at a MASH unit in Uijeongbu.
[Voice]
[France grimaces on that last part before going in a different direction.]
How are you faring since coming here? Have you been here long?
[Voice]
It's been about... two weeks? It's not too bad of a place, though I'm still not sure what to make of the colorful critters. What about you? You don't exactly sound like you're straight off the boat.
