[Post 002] Video/Action Outside New Bark

[The video comes on revealing a very, very pleased France. Yes, he's the kind of pleased that normally is associated with bedroom activities and winning a war. Marianne sits in the background, looking equally as pleased.]

We will eat well tonight.

[He holds up a number of KO'd Rattata and Pidgey by their tails and feet and beams with happy satisfaction at the screen.]

Are these better roasted or braised?

[France hums happily to himself, gathering twigs and dried leaves that have no oil left in them. Can't have dinner tasting like foliage, you know.]

[Canada sits with Sedna and doodles in the dirt with a stick while waiting for France's return!]

[France returns a bit later with an armful of cooking stuffs.]

Alright then, we'll just -

[The wild Pokemon he was intending to make into dinner have somehow come back to consciousness and are focused on attacking Canada. Or so that's what it looks like to France.]

[He drops the gathered wood and leaves and runs to save his colony.]

[Canada looks up at the sound of his name, and has just enough time to squeak in fear before Sedna... actually does something besides splash around in the water, for once. She charges at the nearest pokemon in a headbutt, which... really is more effective when you have a horn on your head. She doesn't wait for it to get back up before going for the next one. Canada can only stare.]

MARIANNE!

[The Vulpix jerks up from her doze only to see a horde of enemies attacking... attacking that boy! The one France loves so much. France doesn't stop, but Marianne is already drawing in a deep breath.]

Marianne, Ember!

[France moves forward, diving into the chaos and grabbing Canada to him blindly.]

France-papa! [Canada is clearly distressed- the animals are fighting! He's not good at fighting! He clings to France, hiding his face for a moment before turning back to check on Sedna when he remembers she's in danger. Sure enough, the level 5 Seel, in spite of her best efforts, is not doing well. Canada frantically reaches into his pockets for his pokeballs, grabbing a random one and tossing it.]

[France hold Canada close, absolutely horrified by this turn of events. He grits his teeth; this will loose their meal, but...]

Marianne, use Roar!

[Marianne takes a visibly deep breath and lets out a shrieking sound that effectively terrifies the majority of the wild Pokemon--still weakened for earlier--away.]

[When the chaos clears, there are three things remaining- their two existing pokemon, and Canada's pokeball, which is still wiggling. Yup, Canada grabbed the wrong pokeball. Canada is too busy clinging to France to notice, though.]

[He manages to control his hands from shaking although his heart is nearly pounding its way outside of his chest. He cards his fingers gently through Canada's hair as much for his comfort as the boy's.]

Are you hurt? Is anything in pain?

[Marianne comes over, stopping next to Sedna and staring at her with an expression that is mostly contempt but maybe a little bit concern.]

[Canada whimpers and shakes his head.]

I-is Sedna okay? [His voice is shaking and he sounds near tears.]

[France cuddles Canada close before peering at the battlefield. Sedna lies on her side KO'd.]

Do you have Sedna's ball with you? I think we should return her to it until we get to Cherrygrove; she needs to rest.

[He spots the lone Pokeball sitting in the mist of everything and frowns at it, standing up with Canada in his arms and going over to Sedna and the ball. Marianne looks up, her head tilted to the side.]

Good job, Marianne.

Canada, is that your pokeball?

[Canada sniffles, spots Sedna, and breaks into tears.] O-oh no! Sh-she's hurt! [Heartbroken child time.] Please get up, Sedna!

[Whimper.] H-huh? Y-yeah...

[France absentmindedly bounces Canada, stroking his hair.]

You've caught a Pokemon then. Can you take out Sedna's ball? We'll put her in there until we get to Cherrygrove and we can heal her, okay?

[sniffle.] O-okay... [He reaches around until he finds it, and returns her to it.]

W-wait... I caught a pokemon?

[He sets Canada down gently, squatting next to him and reaching out to pet Marianne's head warmly.]

Yes, you've caught a Pokemon. Good job, Canada.

[France frowns, tilting his head to the side before shrugging.]

Perhaps God did not mean for us to eat them. Maybe He meant to teach me to have more respect for nature.

[He ruffles Canada's hair and grins sadly.]

We'll just have to be more careful for now on, I suppose.

Are we going to have to eat just plants, papa? [Slight pout! Canada likes meat.] And the gods have always been okay with my people eating animals before... Its not disrespectful, is it?

[France likes meat, too. He grin and nuzzles Canada's hair.]

I think there are certain animals we can eat in this world. Just... maybe not the Pokemon. Maybe that angers the Gods here.

[He thinks on it for a moment.] Oh! So, they're sacred animals, then?
