[The video comes on revealing a very, very pleased France. Yes, he's the kind of pleased that normally is associated with bedroom activities and winning a war. Marianne sits in the background, looking equally as pleased.]

We will eat well tonight.

[He holds up a number of KO'd Rattata and Pidgey by their tails and feet and beams with happy satisfaction at the screen.]

Well, France, hate to be the bearer of bad news, but.... _{[She gestures to the KO'd Pokemon again.]} You're probably gonna need to find somethin' else to eat.

[He follows her gesture to stare at the KO'd creatures.]

Oh, but they're just rats and pigeons. Those are perfectly edible.

[He wishes he remembered how he ended up talking to this woman...]

Yeah, but the locals will go all crazy on your ass.

But why? Don't they ever get hungry for real food?

[Obviously France isn't a vegetarian. He also lacks a certain amount of tact.]

There's meat in the stores. But maybe it comes from farmed animals or something. Either way, they're redonk protective of the wildlife.

There aren't any stores to buy necessities in this stupid town.

[If he can help it, France will never come back to New Bark. Never.]

I need something nutritious to feed Canada; he's a child.

... You'd better get a move on if you need real food that bad.

I came back to this place (to the entrance of Hell)for what is rightfully mine.

It will take a bit with the boy. Hopefully I can find good protein while we travel; he's growing.

A few days without meat won't kill him.

Anyway, there's plenty of stuff in Cherrygrove if you have the money for it.

[He lost Canada the first time for a number of reasons. And then there was the Revolution and the Reign of Terror and so on and so forth...]

I don't want him to sustain off nuts and berries... I wonder if mushrooms are edible in this world. I suppose I'll just have to watch what the animals are eating.

[He glances at his pack off-screen.]

There is some money, but I don't know the economy here. Is there a way to make money that doesn't involve unsavory activities?

There's work around. It's boring, but it's not awful.

Usually gives you more than enough t'live off of.

I worked at one of the Centers, back in Cherrygrove.

Do I just ask for a job or is there an application process?

There's some paperwork, I guess, but mostly you just go in and ask. They don't seem too picky. Must be used to migratory workers.

[He nods slowly, taking this all in and storing it for later use.]

They would have to get used to all these people dying and showing up around here.
