[Post 010] Forward-Dated to Christmas Morning; Video/Action in Violet City

[The 'Gear comes on pointing upwards and unfocused. It's safe to say that this is probably Marianne's fault.]

[If you happen to come across France, he's sitting underneath one of the bazillion springs of mistletoe in the Violet City Pokemon Center with his pokemon all gathered around him. Kai, Drifblim, and David all look rather curious, and Marianne looks... distracted by the mistletoe overhead. He had rushed to the counter upon waking because of the sudden appearance of a mystery egg in his bed. It looks something like this:]

[He's now been assured that it is, in fact, his to keep. A small, warm Eevee egg of unknown origins, but France doesn't look like he's about to question it. Actually, quite the opposite. He's got a calm, almost drugged expression on his face, and the Eevee egg is wrapped in a swath of white fleece as he cradles it in his arms. He looks very, very happy and, if you come close or happen to catch the faint sound on the feed, you would hear France singing from the carol Ah! Quel grand mystère! (O! What a great mystery!) to the egg in his arms.]

Oh, and thank you very much for the wine and spices! [He smiles.] I just might keep them for my family only rather than using them up at the restaurant. [He laughs.]

[He's in his room at the Goldenrod pokemon center. He's still in his night clothes and his hair is untied.]

Yes! I woke up this morning and it... Well, it was almost on top of my head, so it was pretty difficult to miss. Did you as well?

[France grins and winks playfully.]

I'm so glad that you liked them! They're to use as you see fit, and, really, it's best to keep the best for yourself and those precious to you.

[He nods.] Yes, I did, aru. It was right next to me under the covers. Only, it's not brown. It's blue, has a yellow blotch at the front, and the tip is harder than rock, aru.

I agree. Also, I hope that my gift reached you safely?

[France looks a bit surprised; so many different kinds of eggs! The look changes to a bright smile at the mention of the gift.]

Yes, I did get my pajamas and lingerie safe and sound. I'll always think of you when I wear them in bed.

Um... [He's not sure how to take that, but he smiles anyway.] No problem, aru. It is the holidays, after all.

[He glances at his egg, which is offscreen.] Still, I wonder what kind of pokemon is in my egg, aru. I don't think I've seen one like this before.

[France leers.]

Oh, those thoughts will last long after the holidays are over.

[France tilts his head to the side, frowning slightly.]

I took it to the Center here and they were able to identify mine as an Eevee egg. Have you tried the Goldenrod Center?

[*Sweatdrop*] I'm sure they will, aru.

[He sighs and runs a hand through his long black locks.] Well, apparently my egg is carrying some kind of new species of pokemon since the people at the center couldn't identify it.

[Wink, wink.]

I always aim to please.

[His head tilts to the side curiously.]

That's odd... There are so many uncertain things in this world.

[China laughs nervously.] Hahaha...

I suppose so. Still, I can't help but get the feeling that it might be another dragon-type, aru. [He smiles.] I just hope it's as well-mannered Lien-Hua. I already have a hot-headed Onix and I certainly don't need a hot-headed dragon, aru.

[France offers China a sympathetic nod.]

In all honesty, I don't think that I could handle a second Marianne. She's wonderful, but her personality is certainly something to be reckoned wiht.

[A small smile.]

She is quite bright in my opinion, aru. [Sure, she didn't seem found of him, but China wasn't the type to hold a grudge over a tiny burn.]

[France smiles and nods.]

She is very bright, almost uncannily at times. I still don't know how exactly she figured out how to work the 'Gear.

Yes, Li and Ling have also learned how to turn on the gear, aru. I don't know how, but they did.

Although, [He chuckles.] they've never caught me bathing before.

Pokemon intelligence could make an interesting line of research...

[France pouts. Pouts forever.]

That was so not my fault! Nor was it Marianne's. She was just trying to show Big Brother France how brilliant she is!

It would... [He begins to consider it.]

Still, you could have locked the door, aru. [He wasn't about to let France forget what happened.]

[The tenacity of Chinese scholars will solve even the greatest mysteries!]

[France huffs.]

I was eager to take a bath! It had been a long day at work. You must know what it feels like to need hot water to soothe out the aches of stiff muscles!

I'll admit you got me there, aru. However, even at the hot springs, where it's out in the open, my pokemon have never caught me.

They probably know how I feel about others seeing my body. I'm not as cautious as Japan, but I still prefer to keep people's eyes off, aru.

Well, Marianne is precocious, so sometimes she does get a little out of hand...

[France tilts his head slightly, considering China, puzzled.]

But both you and Japan would be beautiful if you bared all. There's no need to be ashamed.

[He doesn't know whether to be disturbed or flattered.]

I think I'll pass, aru. Besides, I don't think anyone needs to see that scar on my back...

[France shrugs, smiling with level of kindness.]

Scars can be a part of a person's natural beauty, even if the event it reminds us of is a tragedy. I would still think you're beautiful.

Hmph. [The 'hmph' wasn't out of anger, more like amusement.] I suppose so, aru. It's all in the past anyway, and Japan and I get along much better now.

Also, no one's ever said that before, except Russia. [He chuckles a bit at the memory. Of course, Ivan didn't get anything from that moment, save for a smile from China.]

[France hums, reaching up and tucking a lock of hair behind his ear.]

Life is better when you get along with family.

[He nods, although he's watching China closely for any other indications of his infatuation.]

Russia really can have a way with words when he wants to.

It is, aru. Sometimes all the memories I have of us fighting, not just me and Japan, but the others too, seem so surreal that it's almost funny.

He can, but I wish he would stop that 'kolkolkol' business, aru. [He pinches the bridge of his nose.]

It's... odd, sometimes, thinking about how much we fight. It's kind of amazing we get to do anything else sometimes.

[France shudders, grimacing.]

It is pretty frightening, especially when that's all you can get out of him.
